Chairman's Message
 

What is CGG?

Center for Good Governance (CGG) is a center for academic research on various development issues relating to Good Governance & reforms.

The CGG is a different kind of institution working independently from all kind of powers: political parties, lobbies and social forces. The actions and interventions of the Center are impartial, non-partisan. The CGG´s main objective is to create and disseminate knowledge and new ideas in order to implement the strategies of good governance that is democratic principles and processes which favor transparency, accountability, efficiency, the rule of law, people's participation and consensus in making economic, social and political choices.

The action of the CGG is centered around four main points:
1)Developing & proposing new instruments to reinforce democratic governance.
2) Reinforcing the analytical ability & capacity of the civil society, political parties and elected members, as actors of the democratic process.
3) Promoting democratic culture, citizen consciousness & citizen participation in governance particularly empowerment of women in the governance.
4) Promoting concept of accountability, transparency & efficiency of the electoral system.

Short Biography :

Rotarian Syed Ahsanul Alam is a well known academician, institution building personality and an activist for Good Governance. He has lectured widely at various business schools including Chittagong University , USTC, Open University, Premier University , ABAC Thailand and also in Singapore .Mr. Alam has contributed numerous articles to leading business journals. His past administrative posts includes Vice Rector IIBT ( Premier University ), Treasurer USTC (SWC), Honorary Special Representative of the President, USTC.

Prof. Alam is Chairman, Imperial Foundation and his first love isbuilding institutions. He has been a pioneer in introducing postgraduate business education in the private sector. He was the honorary founderCoordinator of the Faculty of business, USTC. He is the founder member of IIBT-( Premier University ), member governing body IAHS(USTC), representative of the VC- National University in the governing body of S.M.A degree college.

He gives lavishly of his time and efforts to various social and educational institutions. He was the Organizing secretary of Bangladesh kidney Foundation (BKF) Chittagong .

 

Prof. Syed Ahsanul Alam

He is Managing Trustee of S.N.Alam foundation, adviser to BHMA, life member of BKF, Diabetic Association, Social welfare Project (GOB), Old Placidian Association, Bawa School and Chief patron of Sangeet Bhaban. He was research fellow at the Institute of Bangladesh Studies (IBS), Rajshahi. As an adviser and researcher he has consulted with many organizations at home and abroad.

Born in Chittagong he comes from a reputed family with an industrialist Father S.N.Alam and physician mother Dr. Hosne Ara. Former Director of health (GOB). Prof. Alam is happily married with Dr. Sabina & is the father of one son Shaheer & daughter Neshmeen.
